We all live in the prison of our self-images of how we should be, and we constantly judge ourselves as not measuring up to these images we have of ourselves. As a consequence, we berate ourselves mercilessly. Our negative self-judgments have many flavors—feeling unworthy, stupid, incompetent, unappealing, or, more generically, that we’re simply not enough.
